Child and Youth Character Development

Child and Youth Character Development (CYCD) students discover, apply, and communicate Biblical principles and model them before children and youth. CYCD combines interdisciplinary studies of communication, counseling principles, and Scripture with an internship based on involvement with In The Gap, a program for teaching character in public schools.

The associate of arts degree requires 64 semester hours of course work: 32 hours of In The Gap Training and Internships and 32 hours of other Telos courses from the listing below. In The Gap training may be taken prior to Telos enrollment; however, students must still complete the requirements for internship credit, as well as the courses taken directly from Telos.

This degree was formerly offered in cooperation with the ELMS and EQUIP programs sponsored by the Institute in Basic Life Principles. Those programs have been discontinued, but students may still earn the degree through training and internships or other similar ministries such as “In the Gap.” Contact the Telos office for details.
